La Paquita records second career win
Three year-old filly, La Paquita, turned on the heat to win the first race today at Woodbine in style.
Owned by Nick Harris, La Paquita, took the lead early in the 6-1/2 furlong $53,200 Claiming race. On the turn for home Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson asked her for more and La Paquita ran away from the field to win by 5-1/4 lengths for Trainer Catherine Day Phillips.
This is the second win in six career starts for the Iowa-bred filly by Revolutionary – Cantilena, by Banker’s Gold.
