Killag Katie recorded her fourth career win after a determined stretch run in the fifth race today at Woodbine for Trainer Catherine Day Phillips.
Bred and owned by Mark Breen, this was his mare’s first start of 2020 with the now five year-old coming back from a long lay-off since her last race in September 2019.
Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson hustled Killag Katie from mid-pack on the rail to an outside position turning for home in the six furlong race on the Tapeta. The daughter of Candy Ride (ARG)-Katie Get Excited, by Stevie Wonderboy put forth a determined effort to catch the three front runners and win by half a length at the wire.
With the winner’s share of the $63,900 purse in the $40,000 Claiming race, Killag Katie has now banked more than $165,000 in her 15 lifetime starts.
