Punch Hard Battles for the Win

After getting nabbed at the wire to finish second by a head in his last start on September 5, Punch Hard left nothing to chance in today’s fourth race at Woodbine, battling home for the win at the same $71,800 Allowance level.

The Catherine Day Phillips trained 4 year-old colt by Hard Spun- Indy Punch, bred and owned by Newtown Anner Stud Farm, raced comfortably on the rail in fifth for the majority of the 1-1/8 mile race on the Tapeta.

Looking for racing room on the final turn, jockey Antonio Gallardo, angled Punch Hard off the rail and took off after the leaders when a hole opened up down the stretch and this time was the victor by a neck.

With today’s winning effort, Punch Hard has two wins and a second in his four starts at Woodbine this year.
