Border Raid Day Phillips returns to scupper turf stakes with Ontario shipper

If you’re counting, it’s been 12 years.

Catherine Day Phillips couldn’t come up with the exact number of but she knew it had been awhile since she stormed Saratoga to win the Saranac with Jambalaya. Riding a three-race win streak, including the Breeders’ Stakes, the Canadian invader staved off favorite Silver Whistle to win the 3-year-old turf stakes by a nose. Jam- balaya would go on to take the Ar- lington Million two years later.

Day Phillips returns this year with undefeated Ontario-bred colt Mr Havercamp. The son of Court Vision has only made two starts, drawing off to win easily going 7 furlongs on Woodbine’s synthetic surface and again in an optional claimer over Woodbine’s good turf.
