The lightly raced four year-old filly, Ten Hats, broke her maiden by taking the field wire to wire in a 6-1/2 furlong $48,300 maiden optional claiming sprint in what was her third lifetime start today at Woodbine.
Bred and owned by Richard Day’s Kingview Farms, the filly broke sharply from her outside post position to take charge of the pace. Without any real challengers, Ten Hats, under the slight urging of jockey Antonio Gallardo, kicked into gear to glide to a 3-3/4 length win for trainer Catherine Day Phillips.
Ten Hats is an Ontario bred by Will Take Charge, out of the Mt. Livermore mare Our Mariah.
