Split My Pants up in time to win

Down the stretch it appeared as if 3 year-old gelding, Split My Pants, would have to settle for a place result. However late stretch jockey Patrick Husbands took him to the outside of the front runners and with a final surge Split My Pants got up in time to record his second win of the season.

Going 7 furlongs on the turf for a purse of $39,800 the Ontario bred son of   Victor’s Cry – Hot Pants, by Dixieland Heat, earned the winner’s share of $46,520 with the all sources bonuses added.

Split My Pants is the ninth foal out of breeders Doug Anderson and Rita Eskudt’s mare, Hot Pants, who was trained and owned in partnership with Catherine Day Phillips in 2002 – 2003.

The mare’s resulting foals have all had a reference to “Pants” such as stakes placed mare Short Shorts, Long Johns and Flashinthe pants.  With the spirit for partnerships in the barn, Doug and Rita decided to Split the ownership on their latest to race, hence the name, Split My Pants.

Enjoying this latest win are owners Doug Anderson, Rita Eskudt, Peter Mosakos, Kingfield Racing Stable Ltd. and Carnegie Hill Stable.

Split My Pants is the fourth winner in five starts in one week for trainer Catherine Day Phillips who is enjoying another successful year with her horses placing in the top three in more than half of their 62 starts with 16 wins, 12 seconds and 5 thirds in 2017.
