Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry are enjoying a terrific 2017 with the fruits of their longtime breeding investments paying off with Trainer Catherine Day Phillips.
Today their homebred 3 year-old, Mr. Havercamp (by Court Vision), ran down the field in the stretch to win the 1 mile $125,000 Vice Regent Stakes on the turf at Woodbine with Jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva aboard. Bred in Ontario, Mr. Havercamp is out of the Fitzhenry bred mare Tennessee Lamb, by Medaglia d’Oro.

Mr. Havercamp has now won three of his four career starts, only missing the winner’s enclosure on September 2 after a tough trip in the G3 Saranac Stakes at Saratoga where he finishing fifth in the race.

Last Sunday, the Fitzhenry’s 2 year-old Curlin filly Dixie Moon, added Graded Placed black-type to her resume after finishing a close second in the G1 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine September 17.
Dixie Moon is a half sister to 2017 Plate Trial winner, Guy Caballero (Quality Road), both out of the Fitzhenry mare Dixie Chicken, by Rahy.Trainer Catherine Day Phillips was also the trainer of the Stakes Placed Dixie Chicken during her racing career.
With four horses in the barn of trainer Catherine Day Phillips, Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry have enjoyed a total of 6 wins and 4 seconds in 15 starts with $339,700 in earnings this season. Mr. Havercamp, Dixie Moon, Guy Caballero and Gilded Splinters, each of which are winners this year.
The Fitzhenrys are fully immersed in commercial breeding of Thoroughbred racehorses with Sean getting out of the commercial real estate business to pursue his passion. They keep a total of ten broodmares. If at any time a new filly or mare is added it will be to upgrade and replace one of the ten in an effort to continually improve the quality of their stock.
All of the mares are bred to Kentucky stallions and their resulting foals are born in Ontario then run through the sale as yearlings in Kentucky with a reserve value.
