After winning his 2021 debut on June 25, Barilko had put in some lacklustre performances until today’s seventh race at Woodbine.
Making a bold move up the rail early on in the 6-1/2 claiming event, the 4 year-old gelding by Elusive Quality – Reason (Quiet American), took the lead and held off late challenges to win going away with Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson in the saddle.
Trained by Catherine Day Phillips, bred by Anderson Farms Ontario Inc. and Godolphin and owned by Anderson Farms Ontario Inc., George Phillip Ledson and Scott Kelly, this was Barilko’s 3rd career win with one second in 15 lifetime starts with earnings of close to $85,000.
