At Woodbine on April 23, 2023, Popnfizz, promising 3-year-old filly, secured first place in a thrilling five-and-a-half furlong maiden special weight event, bringing home $43,200. Trained by Catherine Day Phillips and guided under hot apprentice Sofia Vives, Popnfizz showcased her remarkable potential through her outstanding speed. Popnfizz had placed in three of her five starts prior to this win, showcasing her promising future in the racing world.
Popnfizz hounded the frontrunner right out of the gate, taking the lead as they neared the first turn at the 3/8th mile pole. Then, with enough left in reserve, Popnfizz surged forward for the final stretch, held off the closing runner, and won by three-quarters of a length.
