It was a pair of wins for trainer Catherine Day Phillips today at Woodbine.

Five year old gelding Holyfield notched his first win of 2022 by staying near the lead for most of the 1-1/16 mile Optional Claiming race today at Woodbine.  Young Apprentice Jockey Slade Jones asked for more in the stretch and Holyfield drew away from the field to win by 5-1/2 lengths at the wire.

Bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms Ontario Inc. and Rod Ferguson Farms Ltd., this was Holyfield’s second career win for owners Kingfield Racing Stable Ltd., Donald Ferguson and Anderson Farms Ontario Inc.

Coming off of a valiant second place finish in the Woodbine Oaks at Woodbine on July 24, Sister Seagull made late stretch move to win the  $250,000 Bison City Stakes by a head.

Bred and owned by Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry, Sister Seagull, settled towards the back of the field with jockey Antonio Gallardo keeping her well within striking distance of the leaders.  The pair made a gutsy move, splitting horses in the final few strides for the win.

This was Sister Seagull’s second win in her three starts so far this season for Trainer Catherine Day Phillips.
