Joya De Oro Easily Wins Her First Race

In an exciting race at Woodbine on June 24, 2023, Joya De Oro, two-year-old chestnut filly, secured first place in a five-furlong maiden optional claiming event, earning $39,540 in her first race.

Guided by well-known jockey Rafael Manuel Hernandez and trained by Catherine Day Phillips, Joya De Oro exhibited her tremendous potential by displaying a strong and consistent pace.

Joya De Oro took control of the race after the first sixteenth of a mile, establishing her authority. Comfortably setting the pace before the turn, she maintained her lead. With encouragement from Hernandez, Joya De Oro unleashed an impressive burst of acceleration, leaving her rivals in the dust as they raced down the final stretch. With unwavering determination and professionalism, she maintained her momentum and crossed the finish line ahead by a length and a quarter.

Joya De Oro is owned by A Bit More Racing, a new racing group that includes many members from the original Two Bit Racing Stable. Two Bit Racing Stable campaigned the 2005 Horse of the Year, A Bit O’Gold.  Like A Bit O’Gold, Joya de Oro is a strapping chestnut with a white face.   Joya De Oro carries the esteemed bloodlines of her sire, Reload, and dam, Spani Lou. Bred by Denny Andrews & Northern Dawn Stables, Inc
