Holyfield Battles for the Win

In his fourth start of the 2020 season, Holyfield, a three-year-old son of Uncle Mo, battled for the win on the turf in the fourth race today at Woodbine.

It was visible on post-parade that trainer Catherine Day Phillips had Holyfield primed and ready for the $126,400 Maiden Allowance race for owners Kingfield Racing Stable Ltd., Roderick Ferguson and Anderson Farms Ontario Inc.

Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson skillfully relaxed Holyfield to pace the leaders in fourth position for the majority of 1-1/16 mile race. Positioned on the outside on the turn for home Holyfield battled for the lead and held off a late charge to finish by a head at the wire.

Bred in Ontario by¬†Anderson Farms Ont. Inc. & Rod Ferguson Farms Ltd., the Queen’s Plate eligible, Holyfield, ¬†out of the Honour and Glory mare, Nadeshiko, was coming off of game fourth place finish in maiden special weight company on August 1 at Woodbine.
