Halaga Gallops to Victory at Woodbine

Woodbine witnessed an impressive display of speed on May 5, 2023, as Halaga, a five-year-old mare, won the seven-furlong race. Trained by Catherine Day Phillips and ridden by jockey Sofia Vives, Halaga delivered an exceptional performance. 

Halaga, bred by Claiborne Farm and owned by Rick Howard and Rags Racing Stable, LLC, showcased her tenacity and skill throughout the race. As the gates opened, Sofia Vives guided Halaga adeptly, allowing her to take a commanding lead of 5 lengths within the first quarter mile. 

Halaga kept a lead of 4 lengths as they approached the final furlong. Halaga crossed the finish line three-quarters of a length ahead, securing a well-deserved victory.
