Speed and Strategy Unleashed: Millie Girl’s Spectacular Win at Woodbine

On May 12, 2023, Woodbine was treated to a brilliant, patient inside trip Millie Girl, a five-year-old mare, angled four wide and surged to the lead to win by a length and a quarter. Under the expert guidance of jockey Declan Carrol, Millie Girl showcased her exceptional abilities, leaving spectators in awe.

Owned by the partnership of Kingfield Racing Stable, Ltd., Braconcrest Inc., and Apricot Valley Thoroughbreds, Millie Girl proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Bred by Sean Fitzhenry, she carries the bloodlines of her impressive sire, Hard Spun, and dam, Mendocino Beano.

The race unfolded with Millie Girl on hold in last place. As three other horses battled ahead of Millie Girl throughout the final turn, Carroll waited on the inside. At the top of the lane, Millie Girl angled out to find her stride late and surged forward. She wore down her competitors in the final one hundred yards of the seven furlong race and won by one length and three quarters, bringing home $54,720.
